Association Management Companies Are Your Nonprofit's Path To Success
Denver’s Civica Association Conferences & Exhibitions has acquired certain assets of Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Great Western Association Management Inc., one of Colorado’s oldest and best-known association management companies.
Great Western, founded in 1983 by Evelyn Brust, through its history has served national, regional and statewide clients from its Mile High City home base. It was later owned by Brust’s husband, Albert E. Brust, and most recently by Karen M. Wojdyla, who retired from association management at the end of December 2015.
Civica, founded in 2011, over the past two years has acquired assets of two other longtime Denver AMCs — Caruso Group International, founded 1983, acquired 2013, and Association Conferences & Exhibition Management Inc., founded 1987, acquired September 2015. Don Knox, Civica’s managing director and a veteran journalist, separately publishes AMC Advantage.
“Largely owing to its owners and clients, Great Western is a hallowed name in association management history in the Rocky Mountain West,” said Knox, noting that the AMC was the early home of the Investment Management Consultants Association, now a standalone association still based in Denver. Evelyn Brust served as IMCA’s executive director for 20 years, first under the AMC banner.
“IMCA continues today as proof of the value that a great association management company offers all nonprofits, “Knox said.
